Eastern Hungarian Academy of Seniors (KMSZA)

University of Third Age

The Eastern Hungarian Academy of Seniors (KMSZA) was launched in 2015 at the initiative of the Gerontology Department of the Faculty of Health at the University of Debrecen and the Gerontological Work Committee of the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County Subcommittee of the Debrecen Academic Committee, with the cooperation of the Council of Nyíregyháza, led by Prof. Dr. Imre Semsei.
The academy continued the traditions in which series of lectures were held for the elderly on various topics. This kind of dissemination of information was old, however, from time to time academies of this kind were interrupted and restarted. Among others the dissemination of information can contribute to solving the problems of the ageing Hungarian society, and this has inspired the revival of these traditions.
